Getting started

What is RideIndex?

A connected training loop for cycling: plan a route around real conditions, ride it, and see how it moves your longer-term fitness. Route planning, ride analysis, and training load live in one place instead of three separate apps.

Do I need a smart trainer or bike computer to use it?

No. You can plan routes and browse conditions with nothing connected. To log rides you'll either connect a service (Ride with GPS, Wahoo, or Strava), drop in a .fit or .gpx file from any device, or ride indoors in the RideIndex mobile app.

Is RideIndex free?

Yes — route planning, ride analysis, and Fitness/Fatigue/Form tracking are free. Structured workouts, calendar planning, time-projected conditions, indoor training, and AI assistant access are part of Pro.

Connecting your data

What services can I connect?

Ride with GPS, Wahoo, and Strava all connect directly and sync ride history automatically. For anything else — Garmin, Hammerhead, Polar, or any other device — drop in the .fit or .gpx file it exports; it lands the same way.

Do you have a direct Garmin Connect integration?

Not currently. Export a .fit file from Garmin Connect and import it — it's read the same as a ride from any other source, just without the automatic sync a direct connection would give you.

Can I get my data back out?

Yes, any time — rides export as GPX, TCX, FIT, or KML, and routes export back to formats like Ride with GPS reads. Nothing is locked in.

The AI assistant

Does RideIndex have a built-in AI coach?

No. RideIndex doesn't run its own model over your training data to coach you behind the scenes. If you want to work with your data conversationally, you connect the AI assistant you already use — Claude, ChatGPT, or another MCP-capable client — and it acts as your client, not RideIndex's.

How do I connect my own AI assistant?

Three steps: authorize the connection, pick what it can access, and start asking it about your training. You choose the client, the permissions, and when to disconnect it.

Can the AI assistant change my data on its own?

It can draft changes — a workout, a calendar move — but RideIndex requires your approval before anything is written. The assistant proposes; you confirm.

Fitness, Fatigue, and Form

What are Fitness, Fatigue, and Form?

Fitness is your 42-day average training load — it rises only with consistency. Fatigue is the same measure over 7 days, so it reacts quickly to hard training or rest. Form is yesterday's Fitness minus Fatigue, a read on the balance between the two.

Is Form a readiness score or medical advice?

No — it's informational, describing the balance between your longer- and shorter-term training load. It isn't a medical assessment or a training recommendation. Talk to a doctor or coach before changing your training based on it, especially with any health condition.

Safety and accuracy

Are the routes RideIndex suggests safe to ride?

Treat them as suggestions, not guarantees. Auto-routed paths can include busy roads, no shoulder, gravel, or closed sections that the underlying map data doesn't capture — review a route before you ride it.

How accurate is the wind and weather data?

It's a forecast, not a guarantee, and it can change quickly — especially in mountains, near coasts, or during storms. Verify conditions before you head out.

Account and billing

Can I cancel Pro anytime?

Yes, from Settings → Billing. Cancelling stops renewal at the end of your current billing period — you keep Pro access until then, and nothing is deleted.

What happens to my data if I cancel or stop using RideIndex?

It stays put. Export it whenever you want from your rides and routes, and delete your account from Settings if you'd rather it be removed entirely.
